What is Meditation?
Meditation is a state of consciousness that quietens the mind, allowing us to go deep within our self. By focusing the mind away from outside influences and noise, we can come into a deep state of peace and relaxation; to experience what our mind, body and spirit needs to bring to our attention.
Meditation dates back through may ancient cultures and is practiced by both religious and non-religious groups.
It is described in many different ways and this is because there are many ways to practice meditation! You can do it whilst sitting, standing or walking, eyes open or closed, indoors and outdoors; in silence, with chanting, sounding or using instruments to focus the mind away from its inner chatter; at any time or place you feel safe and comfortable.
